Our Story
Owner-led, and run from the site rather than an office
Calum Campbell Construction Limited is led by Calum Campbell, with twenty years of hands-on experience on site. The practical side of construction: how ground behaves, how a programme really runs, what separates a job that lasts from one that looks fine for a year, was learned first-hand rather than from a textbook.
That shapes how the business operates. You deal with Calum, not a call centre. Decisions are made on site, quickly. And the reputation of the business rests on the same name that's on the van, which is a strong incentive to do the work properly the first time.
Today Calum Campbell Construction Limited covers building contracting, groundworks, property repairs and refurbishment for homeowners, self-builders, property developers, commercial clients and landowners. With 15–25 people on the books depending on the job, and our own plant, we can take on a single concrete base or a full ground-up house build without subcontracting out the core work.
We work across the whole of Cornwall and into Devon as far as Exeter, from our yard at Horningtops just outside Liskeard. That means short travel times to Liskeard, Callington and Looe, and local knowledge of the ground and the building control officers you'll be dealing with.

What we specialise in
The ground is where we're strongest. Site clearance, excavation, foundations, drainage and concrete bases are all available as a standalone groundworks package - you don't have to hand over the whole build to get that part done properly. From there we carry on up: new builds, extensions and refurbishments, blockwork, carpentry, landscaping and finishing, with vetted electricians, plumbers and gas engineers brought in under Calum's project management.
Qualifications, safety and insurance
Calum holds CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) for plant machinery operation and SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) for site management safety. The company is fully insured with £5 million public liability cover, £10 million employers' liability cover, products liability cover, and Contractors' All Risks cover for contract works, our own and hired-in plant, and employees' tools.

How we work, and what we hold ourselves to
We don't offer a written workmanship guarantee, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we do offer is certificated site management, full insurance cover, building control sign-off at every stage, and honest pricing.
Fully insured on every job
£5 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability cover, plus £5 million products liability and Contractors' All Risks cover for contract works up to £500,000.
Certificated plant and site management
Calum holds CPCS for plant machinery operation and SMSTS for site management safety, so excavation and site set-up are run by someone carded to do it.
Nothing covered up before it's signed off
On notifiable work we handle building control notifications and inspections ourselves, and we get each stage checked before the next trade goes over the top of it.
Pricing you can plan around
Fixed price, cost-plus or labour-only, whichever suits the job. Stage payments through the build, and normally no deposit to get started.
On new build projects a structural warranty can be arranged. Where specialist trades are needed we bring in vetted electricians, plumbers and gas engineers who work under our project management, so you keep one point of contact from the first dig to the final coat of paint.
